    Spot the Signs

    What to look for.

There are certain checks that can be made by yourself.  If you suspect that you have a rising damp issue, there are some tell-tale visual clues you can use to help identify the issue prior to you contacting a rising damp specialist.

    These clues include the following:

    • Horizontal brown or discoloured marks to be seen up to 1 meter in height on interior walls.
    • Plaster will bubble and peel away from the interior walls.
    • Flaky / peeling wallpaper possibly lifting away from the walls.
    • Skirting boards will become brittle and eventually show the signs of deterioration.
    • Mould on walls.
    • Walls will feel damp when touched.
    • Rotting floorboards.

    Rising Damp Treatments

    What We Do.

Chemical Injection – This is the most common form of rising damp treatment. It is a very reliable form of treatment and in most cases is the fastest and most cost-effective solution for combatting rising damp.

Access – Our dedicated team will begin by drilling holes, making sure the holes are near to the ground level of the affected walls.

Injection – After drilling, we will inject the solution. Chemical injection barriers use water repellent technology to form a highly effective horizontal barrier through the masonry, preventing any moisture rising.

Electro-Osmotic System – If a conventional chemical treatment is not appropriate for your property, an alternative treatment solution can be applied.  The Electro-Osmotic System introduces a very small electric current into the wall just above the ground level. This reverses the process of rising damp by repelling the rising water from the wall and back into the ground, thus allowing the walls to stay dry.

Re-Plastering – Once the treatment has been installed, any salt contaminated plaster has to be removed. New plaster is applied which contains a special salt-retardant additive, which stops residual salts migrating into the new wall plaster while still allowing the walls to breathe.

When left untreated, rising damp in Bournemouth and Dorset can cause a wide variety of health issues that no one wants to deal with. This includes several respiratory conditions that may end up being quite dangerous.

If you suspect that your property may be suffering from rising damp in Bournemouth or anywhere else in Dorset, then do not wait any longer to call our expert team for a professional opinion.
